Position Title: Payroll Specialist

Description:
Lasell College Job Title Payroll Specialist Employment Status Part-time/Calendar Year Hours (if applicable)

Job Summary (per Job Description) Reporting to the Director of Business Operations, the Payroll Specialist will coordinate and perform all payroll-related functions for approximately 1,000 faculty, staff and student employees including bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing; accounting/reconciliations; tax reporting reconciliation; compliance, and serve as the primary liaison with Ceridian (current payroll software vendor).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities • Processing of the monthly salary payroll, the bi-weekly hourly payroll, as well as the student payroll including the reviewing and entering of timesheet data

• Reconciling payroll tax documents

• Creating and loading interface with the College general ledger

• Reconciliation of payroll-related general ledger accounts

• Ad-hoc reporting

• Maintenance of payroll files

• Management of employee garnishments / deductions

• Communicates with all levels of the organization and works closely with staff and/or students.

• Advises others of options, interprets procedures and resolves problems.

• Other tasks as assigned.

Education and Qualifications • High school degree or G.E.D.

• Two years of occupationally-specific education beyond high school or an Associate’s degree.

• At least 3-5 years of payroll experience and proficiency in utilizing computer-based integrated payroll systems, Microsoft Excel, data access and reporting tools is required. Experience with Ceridian HR/PW preferred.

• Applicants should be extremely accurate, organized, able to meet tight deadlines, maintain confidential information and processes excellent accounting, communications, computer and customer services skills. Demonstrated proficiency with payroll general ledger reconciliation and basic understanding of accounting principles is also required.
